100 M Franchise Team World Championship.
Here is an idea for a new athletics based sports event.
An event purely based on team performances of the 100 metres / metres.
Athletics is in my view the most pure of all sports.
Being the strongest or fastest is a simple easy to understand achievement.
The 100 metres / meters is the fastest and most famous event of Athletics.
My idea would be to have a franchise event, where 10 teams have selected twenty individual 100 metres runners who contest the championship against each other.
Each team could have 20 athletes each who would each run in individual 100 metre races.
In my view the greatest athletes of last 100 years have included Usain Bolt, Maurice Greene, Linford Christie, Carl Lewis, Florence Griffith Joyner, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Jesse Owens, and Allan Wells. These were all globally famous 100 metres runners.
My idea, is that the 100 metres would be a series of races, over each event.
There would be a 4 global 100 metre events over the season.
with a contest of 20 individual races in each event. With each team having 1 runner in each individual race.
Then added on at the end as a bonus, is a male, and finally a female 4 by 100 race.
So that would be a 20 individual races, with two relays at end.
There would be 10 individual male races and 10 female races, in each franchise.
With there being 10 franchises in the league.
Each team would have 20 athletes, would race 22 races.
There would be a table based on the winning franchises of each race;
10 points for gold.
6 points for second
4 points for third
2 points for fourth.
Plus a special 10 point award for the fastest run in the trophy, male and female,
100 metre runners would be given to each of the 10 teams via a draft.
The winning franchise at the top of the table at each 100 metre franchise event, would be awarded the event gold medal. Second would get silver. And third would get bronze.
Over the season, the teams who wins the league title, of all events would be the team that had the highest mean average placing in each event. 100 M Franchise Team World Championship.
There would also be a gold medal for the individual who ran the fastest race over the entire season.
