Chapter 2 "Well, Monica might have taught you how to use the bow but it's time to learn how to use the blade." A shadow had said. "Welcome Wade, it's time you showed up." Alea answered. "The blade is more than just a weapon it is a companion." He started. "It is a confidant and a guide, to help and to protect. And remember never to unsheathe unless it is to draw blood." He continued. "I will start from the basics, the proper stance......." "I know that already." She cuts in. "Not until I am satisfied." He asserted. "Fine, you are the boss." She gave in. "Good, now stay in the proper stance and swing your blade a thousand times." He commanded. She continued to swing all day. "Don't you think you're being a little bit harsh on her." Monica pleaded. "With time she would understand it's all for her own good." He replied sipping from an animal hide. Just as the sun begins to set, she finally looked up. "I am finally done, she muttered under her breathe trying to wipe her sweat off her brows." "Well done, now I want you to stand still on a foot for one hour." He said not even looking at her. But she didn't say anything, looking determined she obliged. Few months later. A shadow could be seen moving in irregular patterns and fast too. " An assassin must be fast yet nimble, deadly yet gentle, mild but ferocious." Wade said loudly. " You've finally known what it means to be an assassin." He commented. "I cannot bear to see you leave but I know you have to go." He corrected himself. Moving closer he gave her a wooden box and in it was two daggers. They were black in color and had a ruby gem embedded in the hilt. "This blade was given to me by my master who was also given to by his master who is your grandmaster, they say it has a ferocious spirit but now it's dormant." He said dejectedly. But his eyes lit up suddenly. "Maybe you can awake it, you might be the chosen one." He said hopefully. "My lifelong wish was for it to find a master who can awake it." He said wistfully. "If I can not awake it master, I promise to find a master who can." She said kneeling on one knee. "When do you leave?" He questioned. "Tomorrow at dawn." She replied. "A wise man once told me never say goodbye, say till we meet again." She continued. Wade smiled. "We will surely meet again, he mumured. "I'll never forget your teachings and I promise to put them to good use." She said solemnly. |
