about a first date
The clouds parted like thick curtains
The moon a spotlight as we took our seats
The icy pond reflected highlights and lowlights
Our frozen breath lingering in the space between us
Our heartbeats began to crescendo in anticipation
A flicker then a twinkle and the show began
In that moment,
With everything laid out before us,
I realized that there was nowhere else
That I’d rather be.
