know that waiting for you
to find yourself
back in my arms
is like waiting for the tectonic plates
to reshape the earth’s crusts
or watching the torpid melt of a glacier
raise sea levels
or witnessing water weather ancient rock
into a canyon
but make no mistake, my beloved—
