Twenty-Three & Spiritual Me

It’s like with Ancestry DNA,
I don’t have third or fourth or sixth cousins.
I’m alone in the world,
And on the “23 and Me” website
I feel like there’s only me,
Me and my 23 pairs of chromosomes,
My deoxyribonucleic double helixes,
My hundreds of millions of nucleotide pairs.

Put it like that and the number seems higher, doesn’t it?
I saw 23 best friends, and 23 blue M&Ms in a little bag
That my best friend made into a bluebird shape
Just because he knows I like birds.
And 23 bluebirds, and 23 blades of grass where each bird landed in the 23rd hour of the night.

I told my story the other day
To a spiritualist, who explained I should keep going
And trying to find my sixth cousins in the mind.

23, she said, is proof that the Goddess exists,
And that is Eris, Greek Goddess of Discord
Proof written in human DNA
And in Michael Jordan’s jersey.

She taught me to speak through my pineal gland
So I saw 23 in my dreams
Never in my nightmares but only dreams
With 23 sheep jumping 23 fences
Under night skies with 23 stars.

The meaning of 23 in your dreams is your ability to remember what is good and keep striving
To remember later, when the Random Number nightmares come and shake the crust of earth.

This she taught me, so I am not alone in the room.
I am in the prime position for action
Holding hands with 22
Holding hands with 21
Holding hands with an infinite helix
Till the end of time.
