On a summer evening
I often have this prayer
Amid the heat of the day
As it cools down a bit

I hope that this year
Would lead to better times
Fearing that everything might
becomes so much worse,
before it gets better.

At times,
End of the world feelings
Wildfires, monster storms
Flooding everywhere.

Climate change
On steroids
Hitting the world hard,

As politicians ignore
The crisis at hand.

It overwhelms me
I watched the news
with some fear
and much dread

Eventually
I had to turn it off
Just too much

For me to handle
Feeling blue.

Hoping yet again
That this political insanity
Will lift.

Along with the endless heat
And tropical humidity
Of a summer day in DC
