A poem about fearing the unknowns life has to offer.

The Abyss Ahead

The shadows stretch beyond my sight,
A trembling path, devoured by night.
Each step I take, the silence grows,
And whispers warn of what no one knows.

The future looms—a faceless storm,
A shapeless beast, without a form.
Its breath is cold upon my skin,
It claws me from the depths within.

Oh, cruel horizon, veiled and vast,
You bury the present, exalt the past.
I crave an anchor, steady, kind,
Yet drift in oceans of my mind.

Will fortune smile, or grief command?
Will hope slip gently from my hand?
The stars above will never speak,
They watch me falter, frail and weak.

So here I stand—heart torn, undone,
A marionette to the distant sun.
Praying the dark may one day show,
The truths I dread, but yearn to know.
