What do you do when his past returns?
I refuse to cry for her mistakes,
I will not shoulder her burden.
I, now, own her heartbreak,
But I will not feel her hurting.

I cannot harbor her doubt and shame-
I have done not her wrongs.
You can play her childish games,
But my playing days are gone.

Go, then, to her past;
Go, though, alone.
I will not take my place as last,
I won't hide the love I know.

She will not slip into what
I have now in my arms.
She will come back, but
I will not accept her charms.

Give her again her dreams,
I will not sacrifice mine;
I will not ache as she yearns,
I will not walk her line.

A part of me would leave with you,
But never settle in her arms.
Do, then, what you must do,
I refuse to sacrifice my heart.
