A Children's Poem/Story |
Once upon a time in a far away place There lived a small creature with mud on his face He set out on a journey to find a clean brook To wash off the mud and take a good look He walked up a hill...through a forest of trees And stopped only once under a hive of busy bees They buzzed all around him, then off they went For he had not the smell of flowery scent The forest of green, had creatures abound He made friends with a deer, a skunk and a hound They walked with him, and talked with him, and made him feel safe The brook, they did tell him, was in a far away place As darkness approached, the moon lit his way The creature was tired, for he'd walked all the day He laid on some leaves and made not a peep Closing his eyes, he went quickly to sleep He woke in the morning with mud on his face He ate a little something, then quickened his pace His journey's end was now less than a mile He approached it with glee, his face wore a smile The ripples of water, over rocks it did flow With fishes, and frogs, and creatures below He stepped in the water and washed off the mud Then slipped on a rock and fell with a thud He saw his clean face mirrored in the small brook He looked like a creature he once saw in a book He’d found a new home, so he'd stay and meander The little mud man is now...a proud Salamander |
