While pondering Halloween costumes I
learned who I really am. |
I can't decide what I want to be for Halloween. As a little girl I always wanted to be a princess. I could be Cinderella, Snow White or Sleeping Beauty. Thank you, Walt Disney! Princesses are always beautiful, kind, generous and beloved of all. They never get angry, at least, not until Spiderman tries to help himself to any of her candy. At such a time a good bop on his head with her pinwheel scepter is perfectly in order. Xena, the Warrior Princess, is cool too. I mean really, all I have to do is look threatening and yell like my toddler is combing my hair with a Tonka truck. Wielding a large stick is important to "the Look". I don't think the kitchen broom will cut it. Hmmm....I think I'd rather be Super Mommy! Able to leap mountains of laundry in a single bound...faster than a speeding tricycle...more powerful than a two year old having a temper tantrum.....LOOK...she's a teacher! She's a nurse! She's Super Mommy! As I mentally toss aside each idea, the Lord reminds me of who I am. I am a daughter of the King! Psalm 45:13 says that I am all glorious within and that my gown is interwoven with gold Wow! That's more beautiful than anything Disney has come up with. Ephesians 6 tells me to put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness and shoes of readiness that come from peace. I get to carry a shield of faith, wear a helmet of salvation and wield the sword of the Spirit. No contest Xena! I CAN be a super mommy. With God's help, with His Word, through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. And a super mommy is just what I want to be. |
