What Am I Doing?

What the hell am I doing?

I met a boy,
no not a boy,
but a MAN
and I swore up and down
that I WOULD NOT
play these games.

You know the one where you
sit by the phone
and debate a thousand times
and then ten more for good measure
whether or not to call
because you want to
make him come to you,
but you want to call,
but you don't want to call
TOO MUCH,
but you want to talk to him
SO BAD......

And the other one where
you can't decide if you want
to be demure and make him wait
for kisses and all that sexy stuff
because that is what you SHOULD do
and because you felt bad about
the times you went too fast
when DAMN he makes your
silly head spin and your
stupid knees weak
and your control want to
take a flying leap out of a window.

Oh yeah and that one where
your normally articulate,
intelligent self
runs away and you try to catch her
but only seem to be able
to grab hold of some
giggly 16 year old to do the talking.

I am USED to being the independent woman...
I am a rock, I am an island, ya know?
Can't find a man to fit my list fit
for a queen (because I am a queen)
so I go at it alone and strong and proud
UNTIL
he stands there with my list
and checks off one by one and even
scribbles in a few improvements....

-EDUCATED (check)
-EMPLOYED (check, scribble, DOCTOR)
-HAS A CAR (check, scribble, TWO CARS)
-LIKES KIDS (check, scribble, DELIVERS KIDS)
-FUNNY (check, scribble, LIKES MONTY PYTHON AND CAN BE SILLY AND LAUGHS AT MY JOKES TOO)
-GOOD KISSER (check, scribble, SMOOTCH)

What is a chick to do?
He takes away my rock and
floats a boat to my island.
Am I supposed to get in?
