My Lovely Daughter
(A poem using the Lilibonelle form)

My lovely daughter now in school,
She plays alone out on the playground.
She tells me sadly she has no friends.
My heart breaks to see her so.

She plays alone out on the playground.
Shuffling her feet through the overgrown grass.
Invisible to all as she twirls a leaf in her hand,
Holding it up toward the sun.

She tells me sadly she has no friends.
Who would not want her cherished friendship?
She is smart and witty and so much fun,
She can keep a secret better than me.

My heart breaks to see her so.
My child alone in the crowd.
The tears well up in her shining eyes,
My lovely daughter now in school.
