My New Life, by Big Tom Cat Well, I have been living with the divine Elena and her human for several months now, and I have to admit that life is pretty good. I seem to have fallen into a nice routine. After breakfast, I like to wander around the neighborhood on my own. The fair Elena does not get into these outings. She is really a homebody. This is really my time though. I mean, a guy has to have some time to himself. I usually go and hang with a couple of the other old toms in the neighborhood. We like to play games with the dogs at the end of the block. Unfortunately they are not very smart, and we always win. I come home for lunch, and then nap on the porch with the lovely Elena. Then in the evenings we settle down to watch TV. Surprisingly, our human is a big NFL fan, so every day we get online at yahoo.com and check for all the new stats. Then the human checks her hotmail account to see if she has any new job offers. She was also doing some research on the ntv video grab, but I wasn’t quite sure what it was, so I didn’t pay much attention to it. Tonight our human turned on the news first. Not much happening there. There was a brief article about Paris Hilton, and about Ken Jennings. Then something was mentioned which caught my attention. It was Nasa’s Genesis Project. Wow! They had captured particles from the sun, and they were right here on Earth. I would give anything to see them. I wonder if they glow like the sun. I don’t suppose I will ever know, but then, someday I will part of the sun, so I guess it doesn’t really matter. Well, it was great fun listening to the newsman anyway. They do get so excited about things. I was just thinking it might be time to snuggle down for a quick nap when our human announced she had a surprise for us. She had taken a short-term job with the NOAA. That is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. We were going to go out storm chasing. I immediately perked up. Taking pictures of storms sounded like fun. Well you never knew what this human of ours was going to try next. She was quite exciting to live with. But it was getting late, and my stomach told me it was time for some din-din. I nudged her and bonked her with my head. Then Elena and I headed for the kitchen. Ah. It was liver and chicken pate tonight. After dinner I curled up on the sofa with Elena, and washed thoroughly behind her ears. Life is good. Purrs, Big Tom Cat |
