These are the lies I told you


You sit on the kitchen counter,
Drips of apple juice hang
From your trembling chin.
As naïve as a newborn kitten,
You make your way blindly,
All too trusting of the world.

A smile plays across my lips
As I bait the innocent.
I loved you, I cared for you;
You meant the world to me.

These are the lies I told you.
These are the lies you believed.
