Insomnia is my problem; not my cat's.

I wish I slept
as deeply as my cat.
Curled on his side,
one paw out, begging me to stroke
the delicate whisker ends at his wrist.
How can I disturb
a rest so peaceful and relaxed,
so confident of fulfillment?
I turn once more,
trying to emulate his confidence.
But cat sleep
eludes me.
