Soft, black fur fluffs up,
base of tail is twice as wide.
Eyes widen in fear,
quickly Chance goes off to hide.
From his little spot,
claws into the carpet, deep,
he gives me a glare
as I drag it from its keep.
The monster unleashed,
Chance now slinks towards the door.
Ears against his head,
he awaits the scary roar.
Even if I say
that everything is alright,
Chance is not convinced,
darts through the cat flap in fright.
I shake my head, sigh,
turning to the chore at hand.
Chance is a big cat,
but I guess I understand;
hoovers are not a cat’s friend.
