A united pack howling out to the world.
Far in the distance sirens are beginning to wail. Is it a fire truck, an ambulance, or police car rushing to yet another emergency?

Within seconds, an unusual chorus begins. Our sweet Lobo, a big black Lab-Wolf mix, will always be the first we hear. It starts as his head slowly rises to face the stars, and he lets lose a deep, and doleful howl.

Then, as Sampson, son of Lobo watches his father, we know he will be next too follow. His tone will be just a bit higher, yet just as mournful.

It is now Bella's turn. She is our Great Dane-Lab mix we call our gentle giant. Slowly tilting her head towards the heavens, she closes her eyes, and begins sending forth the longest, and most sorrowful cry of them all. She is the opera singer of our pack.

Then, not to be left behind, is our little Terrier mutt, Pancake. Even though she is only half the size of all of the others, she is known to mother over them all. She will also search deep from within her little body, and join in with her own unique, not a howl, but more of an almost pained yip. 'Yeelp, yeelp, yeeelp.' I cannot help but laugh.

From the door, I can see them as they are now all with their heads to the sky howling in unison, and making their own beautiful, and unique music. Each is reaching deep within to something which has been passed on from one generation to the next for millennia. Something which is bound deep within their DNA. Something which transforms them back to a time when their ancestors ran free and wild.

I step from my world to join them in theirs. Upon seeing me, they all stop in unison, and turn their heads towards me to acknowledge my presence. Such soft chocolate eyes filled with tender sorrowfulness, and yet I also see a questioning glint. For I am their pack leader and they await my command, my orders, my reaction. “ You heard? Sirens again, there is trouble somewhere, someone might be hurt. Should we go? Can we go? What do we do?”

I take a moment, and then slowly I raise my head towards the heavens. I also reach from deep inside my soul, and let forth my own song, my own howl, “Ahuuuuuuuuuuu, Ahuuuuuuuuuu”. Immediately my pack follows their leader, and in unison we continue howling towards the heavens creating a musical sound that only our pack can make.

We are howling out well wishes to the world, and throughout the Universe. Our wishes are going out for each and every person, "May you be well. May you be safe. May you find peace".
