Day 10: “The owls are not what they seem.” —The Giant, Twin Peaks
Something told me this place was bigger than 100 acre woods. Dreams were funny like that. A forest could be ginormous or tiny.
This grove was deep and dark. Almost from a different epoch of Earth's history. There were no trails to follow. I forged my own through the trunks and mist.
Something let out a raspy, scream. What the hell?!
"Hello? Are you alright out there?"
I felt stupid as my words drowned in the fog. The scream sounded again. I looked up at the tree. There was a barn owl staring back down at me. It opened its beak and wings simultaneously and let out that awful sound.
This time I saw that the owl had teeth and glowing eyes. "Holy shit! Thats not an owl!"
I tried to run away but it followed me. Its massive tree shaped legs followed me. The dark forest bristled and a massive din ensued as more creatures joined the chase.
