An eye-witness account of an abduction. 300 words |
The Entire Thing “I saw the whole thing,” a ball-capped man said into the microphone. Jerry Highland pulled it away a little distance since the witness seemed to be chewing Cherry Blend. “Exactly what did you see, Mr...?” the TV News reporter asked. “Name’s Cobb Hill. Nothin’ I ain’t seen before I kin tell ya!” “So, what was it?” “One of them spaceships. This here place is what ye might call a hotbed fer ‘em.” Jerry looked around skeptically. “I mean this trailer park gits regular visits from them aliens.” “How many have you seen yourself?” Jerry asked curiously. “Since I were a young’un or what?” “All together so far in your life, let’s say!” “Must be about a hunnert or more.” “More than one hundred sightings! Amazing!” “Once when I were about five, I got taken by ‘em.” “Taken? Where?” “Into space, o’course, what else?” “What did they do?” “I’m not rightly sure, I screamed some loud and next thing I knew I were back home in my own bed. I were an amazin’ screamer in them days, I figure they were sensitive or something!” “What did you see?” “This big beam of light come outta the clouds and picked up my whole trailer. Luckily, I were stayin’ with my brother a few doors away, but we was partyin’ a little, so I couldn’t sleep. Boy, I was hoppin’! I run inside fer a gun, but by the time I got back, the beam were gone!” “What happens now?” “Gonna have to move in with my brother and his family. It’s a tight squeeze, but I don’t know what else I kin do till I kin git me a new-to-me double wide!” “Thank you for your time, Mr. Hill. Keep an eye on tonight’s news for my story!” |
