Sample poem from my upcoming collection "A Life In 80"

Saw a tree today.
Did not give up when blown away.
Storm came down
Snapped it's crown
blew it's trunk to the ground.
It should be a log now.
Rotten.
Decayed.
Forgotten.
But roots, strong and deep
Grew from the trunk into the ground to keep.
Standing tall, unique for all
It grows and thrives despite it's struggles.
It's like us in a way
Snapped, hurt, but not blown away.
Our roots grow deep again
And though we're unique for all that's been
We live.
We thrive.
We grow.
