“Growing up doesn’t mean getting everything right.”

👟 The Tale of Betty Blue Shoes
by Tee M.

This is Betty Blue Shoes.
She may be little, but she has big ideas.

She likes her cereal with extra milk. She likes her dolls lined up in a very specific order. And she absolutely insists on picking out her own clothes—especially her favorite frilly dress covered in ruffles.

But most of all?
She loves her bright blue shoes.

The only thing is… Betty always puts them on the wrong feet.
Every. Single. Time.

“Betty, sweetheart,” her mama says gently, “your shoes are on the wrong feet again.”

But Betty just looks down, hands on her hips, and replies,
“They’re on my feet, aren’t they?”

You see, Betty is a little bit stubborn—
not in a mean way, just in the way small people are when they’re learning how to be big.

She walks through the house with a shuffle and a wobble, socks peeking out, shoes turned backward—but her confidence perfectly in place.

She wears her blue shoes to the park.
She wears them to the store.
She wears them while building castles out of cereal boxes in the living room.

Sometimes they squeak.
Sometimes they trip her up.
But Betty keeps on going, head held high.

One day, Grandma knelt down beside her and said,
“Betty, you remind me of someone I used to know.”

“Was it you?” Betty asked, blinking her big eyes.

Grandma smiled. “Yes. And I wore my shoes the wrong way, too.”

Betty grinned. “I knew I got it from somewhere!”

And that’s the thing about Betty Blue Shoes:
She may get a few things backward.
She may fall down now and then.
But she always gets back up.

Because growing up doesn’t mean getting everything right.
Sometimes, it just means walking proudly—even if your shoes are on the wrong feet.
