From behind, you crept

Hide-and-Seek

By ~ Reagana

From behind, you crept,

With stealthy step,

Seeking to surprise.

I held my ground,

And made no sound,

Squeezing shut my eyes.

Your footsteps stopped,

But then you dropped,

Your hand upon my head.

Caught at last,

Yet, way too fast,

And now it’s time for bed.

Tomorrow we will play,

And fill another day,

With games of cat and mouse.

Hide and seek,

You’ll take a peek,

As I run to the house.

You’ll find me there,

Behind the chair,

My favorite place to hide.

My turn to count,

As seconds mount,

And I hear you race outside.

Round and round,

Nary a sound,

As we run with glee.

From day to night,

Footsteps in flight,

As I chase you, then you chase me.
