Step by Step guide to setting up a book item for the DWC or to just use on the site.

How to Create a Book Item

On the left-hand side bar, select: + Create New Item. When the page reloads, click on BOOK

The Basics
1) Item title – your choice
2) Brief Description – what your book will be about
3) Intro Rating – should always be ‘e.’
4) Item Body – this section is for dress-up, like an introduction to your book. You can provide anything in this area, including text and images.

Set Up
1) Item Type – Choose collection, journal, or novel
2) Folder – leave at ‘my portfolio’ or choose where you want it to go
3) Content Rating – should be whatever content you plan to write
4) Access Restriction – choose who you want to see your book; if you intend to use a passkey option on your book, you must set this to private.
5) Select Genres – always a good idea to select at least one based on what your book is about.
6) Relevant Keywords – you can place here a list of words that would generate your item to appear if a search for items was done on the site by a member. Example: if your keyword is ROSE, and a member did a search for ROSE, then your item would appear in their search results.

Book Settings
1) Entry Format: select entry summary format
2) Blog Commenting: your choice enable or disable

Advanced
1) Spacing: Default or Preserve
2) Paragraph Spacing: Single or Double
3) Rating/Review: select one
4) Auto Reward: an automatic gift point added to the review of your item.
5) Restrict Access: to your item, select one
6) Restrict Access to Trinket Holders: add trinket # if you want to use them
7) Pass Key – only enter a number or word in here if you want your book to be viewed by invitation only. Note: access must be set to private for this to work.
8) Group Edit Access – if you are in a group and you want them to be able to go into your item and edit it for you, set this to the group that you want to permit.
9) Group Edit Level – each member of a group has a level. For a member to be able to edit your item, their level must be listed here.
10) Automatic Review Response: If you want your review to receive an automatic message when they review your item, enter your words of choice here.
11) Click save and edit to continue working. Click save and view to see how your work looks. Click complete edit if you are done.
