Wonderful poem that links footprints to bits and pieces of our memories over the years.
As we get older, we do leave a mark behind - footprints if you will - and even as they fade away, they'll always linger and be a reminder of what we once were.

He signed on as an animal trainer,
and now he’s billed as a tiger tamer;
although he started with the bears and lions,
they were just a beginner’s try-ons,
and though he’s now mere tiger food,
he was great for years and really good.
The reason given by the cat of stripes,
they were only waiting till he was ripe.
