Summary of this CDs & Vinyl...
the original score from the major motion picture from New Line Cinema that has won renown the world-over
I especially liked...
Tracks 5, 11, & the last track "Gollum's Song". All of the songs on this album (but in my opinion, these 3 especially) are absolutely wonderful music. My favorite track of all has to be "Gollum's Song": simply marvelous.
The n/a of this CDs & Vinyl...
is Howard Shore. He was born on 18 October 1946, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A film composer who has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with director David Cronenberg, Shore was educated at the Berklee College Of Music in Boston, USA. From 1969 to 1972 he was a member of the horn section of the US/Canadian band, Lighthouse, and from 1975-80 served as the musical director for the popular network television show, Saturday Night Live. In 1979, he scored David Cronenberg's The Brood, and since then has worked on most of the director's successful movies, including Scanners, Videodrome, The Fly, Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch, M. Butterfly, Crash, and eXistenZ. Although able to compose in a variety of styles, Shore seems to be most comfortable in the world of horror and thriller movies. His best known works include Big, The Silence Of The Lambs, Mrs. Doubtfire, Philadelphia, Ed Wood, and Seven. Among his other scores are I Miss You, Hugs And Kisses, Nothing Lasts Forever, After Hours, Nadine, Heaven, Moving, She-Devil, The Local Stigmatic, An Innocent Man, Made In Milan, A Kiss Before Dying, Single White Female, Prelude To A Kiss, Sliver, Guilty As Sin, Nobody's Fool, The Client, Moonlight And Valentino, Before And After, The Truth About Cats & Dogs, Striptease, Looking For Richard, That Thing You Do!, Cop Land, The Game, Gloria, Analyze This, Dogma, High Fidelity, The Yards, Esther Kahn, The Cell, Camera, and The Score. His honours include ASCAP, Genie, Below-the-Line, Los Angeles Film Critics, Gotham and Saturn awards.
Encyclopedia of Popular Music
Howard Shore isn't my favorite of composers, but he really did a great job with the LotR trilogy.
I recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
if you love Lord of the Rings, chances are you'll love listening to this album, too! I myself am a huge LotR fan, and so I bought this album without really thinking about it. I listened to it casually a couple of times in my headphones not really liking it too much. But then I played in my real CD player and before long I was hooked! It really is amazing music.
