The Morning Moon

I woke up this morning
and thought I saw the moon.
This obviously could not be
as the moon only comes when I sleep.

I rubbed my eyes
to make sure I wasn't dreaming,
and realized that really was a moon.
Or at least, looked like a moon.

I consulted my sister,
who confirmed the same-
the moon really is in the sky this morning,
though neither of us know why.

We shrug and decide
to go about our day
as normal,
but when we get outside,
we learn the truth-

It was really someone playing a prank
with a hunk of swiss cheese.
