Mirror, Mirror
Our discussion had been going on for about an hour.
“Yes, that is the answer,” I stated to the monkey sitting on the bar.
Andre shook his furry digit at me.
“No, you are not smarter than me.” I shook my finger at Andre.
Andre hopped down, went to his friends in the back. Soon all three were on the bar, sitting in front of me. So I had to tease them more.
“Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. You’re the triumvirate of mischief makers!” I thought it quite humorous, but no one in the bar looked my way. Even the three monkeys went elsewhere.
So with the monkeys out of the picture, I could see the mirror behind the bar. My face should be behind all the bottles of liquor, but all that was reflected were other faces in the crowd. Maybe I’d had too many of Andre’s special drink of the day. You never know what he puts into those concoctions.
My face didn’t reflect in the mirror. Is this a dream I’m in? Am I in another reality? What is it, werewolves or witches don’t show a reflection. Or is it vampires?
“You’ve been working too hard. It’s all in your mind. Forget it and look again.” My brain tried to process this. So I looked again. Still no reflection.
Quick as any jackrabbit I hopped on the bar then over to the mirror. I attracted no attention. Was I invisible? I touched the mirror but my hand went through it to the other side. Then I jumped up, broke some bottles, then climbed into the mirror.
On the other side was the same Andre’s Banana Bar, but all was definitely different. Andre stood to one side, he was as tall as me, a dapper gentleman in an elegant suit.
