Estate Sale Adventures Today 2/28/26 Well, as I thought would happen, I went to an Estate Sale in Peoria alone today. It was fine really, I think we both needed the alone time. I took along my 'Cane-Stool', the left photo from four months ago. I didn't expect that small stool to get such attention though! I brought it along to have a place to sit while we waited in line for about 45 minutes! It did come in handy, that's for sure. At the Estate Sale I bought 33 Hardy Boy's Mystery Novels! That was the drawing feature of the sale for me. I looked at everything in the sale, but I didn't see much that drew me. Kathy wanted a framed picture, but it was $250, a little more than we wanted to spend. We could always go back tomorrow after noon and if it's still there, get it at half off. There's that key word though, IF it's still there. It's about 45 miles to get to it, it would have to be something we both really wanted. I had a surprise when I tried to pay though. My card was declined, despite having plenty of money there. I spent almost 30 minutes on the phone with the bank, the employee even connected to their fraud alert desk. What they decided is that the chip in my card is faulty. I was told the scan of it should have asked for the CVV number. Noooo, that didn't happen. The screen went to 'Card Declined' immediately. That's why the bank said the chip is faulty. Oh well, it didn't stop me from withdrawing enough cash to pay for it that way. Still, an unpleasant surprise. Heck, I even showed the lady my account balance, far more than enough to buy those books. An interesting day to say the least. Now it's time to fire up the grill for Ribeyes tonight! |
