Gracie has a birdie
she likes to make it tweet
it chir-chirips a song to her
when anything it hits
it's supposed to be a cat toy
but you can't tell that to her
she treats it like her baby
it's like a puppy to her
once upon a time it stopped tweeting
very depressed she got
until mommy found a new one and made a clever swap
now I have like thirty hidden well away
in case poor Gracie's birdie's chirp should fade
then once again there will be a clever swap to make
because a sad and mopey dog isn't something I can take
