Sonnet
It's time to write a sonnet.
There's set rhyme but not meter.
What poetic form could be sweeter
Now it's time to actually get on it.
Writing like I have a bee in my bonnet.
I'll take a break to be an eater.
No this line is not a repeater
This is the best form one can get.
It is new rhyme scheme time.
Time to figure out something new.
A word I need to find with rhyme.
I have to think of more than a few.
After all I'm a poet not a mime.
The last word needs to rhyme true.
The Petrarchan sonnet, perfected by the Italian poet Petrarch,
divides the 14 lines into two sections:
an eight-line stanza (octave) rhyming ABBAABBA,
and a six-line stanza (sestet) rhyming CDCDCD or CDECDE.
Please Note:
Some sources say this form should be 10 syllables per line,
while others do not. So, it's up to you to stick to the rule or not.
However, either way, you must follow the rhyming scheme.
