Simply Red, Holding Back The Years - 2018 Music is not a big deal in my life. So, when a song is still somewhere in the back of my mind it means something. I love this song. It reminds me of my past when I was younger when Life was busy but pleasant. February 26 |
Opus, Live is Life, 2007 Just a little nothing in music, but it kept me humming all day when I heard it on the radio. Sometimes it’s just fun to sing along with a song like this. February 25 |
Joe Jackson, Is She Really Going Out With Him? In my younger years, I was a huge fan of Joe Jackson. I bought all his LPs and listen to all of his music. I saw him once in Amsterdam on stage. A great evening. I cherish the memory. February 24 |
Melissa Etheridge, Like The Way I Do – 1988 Etheridge was one of the great singer/songwriters I saw in real life when she was on tour in Europe. A great event, a big stage with a table and a chair and Melissa Etheridge with her guitar. A great evening with friends. February 23 |
Peter Hamill, The Love Song - 2011 I remember sitting on a rock in Greece near the sea listening tot his song. It was enchanting. So beautiful. And every time I hear this sound I am back in Greece. It’s been a while since I was on holiday somewhere on the Greek islands. I am planning to visit again in the near future. February 22 |
Tom Waits, Green Grass – 2011 What a voice!! Just listen!! I just want to emerge myself into this voice and enjoy it through and through. February 21 |

Fine Young Cannibals, Johnny come home – 2014 One of the singles I bought in my youth and danced on. I had not heard this in ages. It was fun to get reacquainted again. February 19 |
Talking Heads, Burning Down the House – 1983 Every time I listen to the Talking Heads it’s down to Memory Lane. I loved those guys especially the lead singer and guitar player David Byrne. It was the time of festivals and demonstrations against the nuclear bomb, apartheid, and injustice. I was very active in those days. February 18 |
Stevie Wonder, Superstition – 2009 When I was 15 I was a huge fan of Stevie Wonder. I remember that I always went to the store to buy a single or an LP of Stevie. Not only did I liked his music, I secretly had a crush on the salesman in the music store who sold me the music. He was a huge fan too and could tell me everything about Stevie Wonder. Fun times. February 17 |
Madness, Our House – 1982 I flirted with Punk back then. You always could dance on music by Madness. It was another era. I was very much British oriented in those days. February 16 |
Fleetwood Mac, The Chain – 1977 In my early twenties, I was living together for a few years with my best friend’s brother. We owned this album Rumours from Fleetwood Mac and loved this song in particular. It was the time of road trips to Great Britain, former Yugoslavia, and Greece. Young and happy times! February 15 |

Leonard Cohen, Thanks for the Dance – 2020 I know I was shocked when he died in 2016. Cohen was a great singer/songwriter and a real poet. His lyrics, as well as his voice, were legendary. I always take time to listen to his music, it’s that awesome! February 12 |
Keiino, 2019 – Spirit in the Sky Spring 2019. Eurovision Song Contest. A big deal in Europe, Russia, and Israel. This Norwegian song was the best in my opinion and for a lot of others although my country The Netherlands won. But the Norwegians were a hit with that special sound of Fred Buljo (the bold singer). He sang in a special language which was an instant hit. I loved this song very much, it kept me mesmerized for weeks. Since then I try to follow him on FaceBook every time he has a new song. February 11 |
David Bowie, 2002 – Heroes He died of cancer in 2016. I thought about him a great deal this past year. His music, his lyrics, his presence and the way he stood out in the crowd. A great musician. February 10 |
B.B. King, 1993 – The Thrill is Gone I have seen B.B. King live in the Netherlands in North Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam. It was 1985 I think. It was with my then-new love Ron. King was larger than life, with his voice, his body, his music. So enormous and engaging. I love his music and the memory of a great time. February 9 |
Chet Baker, 1987 – Almost blue Late at night, coffee and a cigarette feeling blue. The perfect atmosphere to listen to Chet who jumped off a window in an Amsterdam hotel in 1988. February 8 |
