A brief discussion of my experiences with being a Rising Star Nominee. |
A week or so I was notified that I was selected to be a Rising Star Nominee! I couldn't believe it! I'd been surfing around a while back and found them. I felt it was a really worthy cause, so I donated. Secretly I wished I was good enough to be chosen for such an honor, but knew I wasn't. Imagine my surprise when suddenly I get notified that I was selected!!! I assume I was nominated by Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ since she's my sponsor...poor thing. She's been really encouraging and helpful. I adore her! This is going to be a lot of work. I knew I'd be writing, but I didn't expect to be doing so much research. lol I wrote a piece on Mark Twain and his poem "The Aged Pilot Man." I had to answer specific questions within my piece. DOH! JUST realized I forgot to answer about how his life impacted this poem. It's about a boat and it uses a lot of nautical terms. He would have found this easy because of his years as a steamboat pilot. Oh well...some points are better than none. I was running short on time anyway. I turned it in 4 min. before it was due--GoT flashback. lol This morning I woke up with a silly limerick type thing floating around in my head. Odd. I don't write (or read) limericks...or really a lot of poetry (usually). What the heck? I wrote it down and submitted it. "Jack's Itch Limerick" I thought I had to do 3 pieces to get one month's credit, but I only had to do one. That's just as well. When I went to do my 2nd one, all I had was another silly poem. "The Bear's Fair Snare" Who knows what kind of ridiculousness I would have come up with if forced to write something else. lol This is totally not what I usually write. Oh well. It's good to have variety in the portfolio. On and off for several hours I've been working on a crossword puzzle about Edgar Allan Poe. "Don't Cross Edgar Allan Poe" It's a lot harder than I expected and I know a lot less about him than I realized. Hmmm...discouraging. lol I might have to get help from my sponsor. But I just checked and she's not on. She's probably watching the World Series--Go Cubs! (That's for you, Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ! lol) On the good side, I thought it was due today and it's not due until the 4th, so I have time. Whew! |
