Physical desires are at its peak in youth, and the first 20 years pass in a moment. And then the job search begins ๐ผ Not this, not that, not near, not far. After changing many jobs one gets a stability job. First paycheck as soon as handy, The cheque gets deposited in the bank and then the game of zeros begins. Few more years go by, and the zero in the banks start increasing. Married at 25 and life has a new beginning. Early years are full of pink dreamsโwalking hand in hand, getting lost in dreamworld. Then the baby hits and the crib starts swinginging. Now full attention focuses on childcareโwaking, feeding, sleeping. Time is not known. Meanwhile, hands leave, talks and stop moving. She gets busy with baby, and I at work. The cycle of houses, car installments, child's education, future concerns, and the bank zero increase begins. At 35, there is an emptiness in mind despite having everything. The irritation grows, and I start to stay lost in myself. The child grows up, and never know when the 10th exam comes and goes. The zero in the banks continue to increase till the age of 40. One day, lost in the old memories I said, Come, sit close, let's go for a roam. He looked at me with strange eyes and said, Now at this age, things are so much work here. "Then she snatched her pallu and went away. At 45, glasses go on, hair turn white and life falls into confusion. Son goes to college and the zero in the bank keeps growing. As the age of 50, exit plans stop. Medicine time is fixed. Children grow up and get busy with their lives. One day, the son told over the phone that he was married abroad and will stay there now. He advised to spend bank zeros in old age home. I enjoyed the cool breeze sitting on the sofa while she was busy in worship. I said, come on, let's talk with hand in hand again today. He answered, Just arrived. "Happiness glimpse on my face, eyes filled with tears. But then suddenly the glare of the eye faded, and I was forever calm. He finished worship and came to me. What were you saying? She asked, but I couldn't say anything. She touched my bodyโI was cold. He looked into the zero for a moment, then got up and lit an incense in the house of worship, And sat back on the sofa. Holding my cold hand said, Come on, where do you want to go? What are the things to do? Tears came to her eyes. She kept watching me, the stream of tears kept flowing. My head weight fell on her shoulder. Cool breeze was still blowing. Is this the life? ๐ผLearning๐ผ From this story we should understand that the true happiness of life is not in wealth, but in love, understanding and moments spent together. ๐โฃ๏ธ |
The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English". In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter. In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away. By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". A young boy goes off to college. Half way through the semester, having foolishly squandered all his money ... he calls home. "Dad" he says, "You won't believe what modern education is developing! They actually have a program here in our institution that will teach our dog, Jack, how to talk!" "That's amazing," his father says. "How do I get Jack in that program?" "Just send him down here with $10,000" the young boy says " and I'll get him in the course." So his father sends the dog and$10,000. About two-thirds of the way through the semester, the money again runs out. The boy calls home. "So how's Jack doing son?" his father asks. "Awesome, dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't believe this -- they've had such good results they have started to teach the animals how to read!" "Read ??"says his father. "No kidding! How do we get Jack in that program?" "Just send $20,000, I'll get him in the class." The money promptly arrives. But our hero has a problem. At the end of the year, his father will find out the dog can neither talk, nor read. So he shoots the dog!!! When he arrives home at the end of the year, his father is all excited. "Where's Jack? I just can't wait to see him read something and talk!" "Dad" the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Jack was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading The Economic Times, like he usually does. Then Jack turned to me and asked, "So, is your father still having an affair with that pretty lady Rachel๐who lives down the street ?" The father went white and exclaimed ... "I hope you shot that son of a b*** before he talks to your Mother!"๐ก "I sure did, dad! "That's my boy!" The kid went on to law school and is now a politician! ๐๐คฃ |
Opportunity is fleeting and judgment" is difficult. Let this quote from Deborah Harkness inspire your entry. As a son : -You depended on your parents for almost everything, till you turned a teenager. -Hanging out with friends then became a priority and parents were often seen as people imposing their thought process on you. -College happened, girl friend/s came by, as did heart breaks and parents took more of a back seat. -The first job,, the urge to quick start a career, the next designation, moving to another city, the regular phone calls with parents to check how they were doing. -Joy in the family, parents estatic, the wife came along, a tussle started in being the dutiful son or the doting husband. -You became a father, domestic and career pressures on the rise, your parents some where in the back ground of all of this โ waiting. -Years rush by and before you know it, your parents are old and their time has come. -Feeling of guilt, of wishing you had spent more time with them and sharing too little with them. It is too late. This is the way life will be played out โ knowingly. |
Prompt: Right as rain. Write about this term in your Blog entry today. What an afternoon as the word goes right as rain, what a power packed evening.. still when I think about it .. I feel goosebumps! To see my junior alma mater in school uniforms come together so that we can do something worthwhile. Something I remember we were taught to do in school . Today when over a span of hours , endless chitchat , giggles galore over rounds of tea , cookies and Sprite I / we got to jive our school days . Memories came flooding .. when we used gather after school .. painting posters , rehearsing for plays โฆ and concerts ! Perhaps life always comes full circle when I visited New Market today with a friendโs daughter to buy art supplies from a store I used to visit as a school girl with my mother . Somehow the store keeper remembered me fondly .. perhaps some memories get imprinted in life โs memoirs of people too deeply !!! So .. now that we are all set with posters , slogans , skits .. and lots of etc .. all I would say is come join us one and all - even if you are not an ex student of our school . This march is for justice .. Justice of Tilottama who has shaken an entire populace to seek and do what is only right ! |
No two people react to the same situation in a similar way. Here are examples of two legendary personalities who were faced with a very similar situation, but their responses were diagonally apart. One has been elevated, but the other only recognised. It's between *Bhishma & Jatayu.* Both of them were confronted with character defining assault on womanhood. One chose to die protecting the victim while the other chose to be a mute spectator of the crime. *1) POWERFUL OR POWERLESS* Bhishma was a powerful & capable warrior, & if he wanted, he could have stopped the disrobing of Draupadi, the Queen. But he chose to be a silent witness of this act; Whereas, Jatayu was old & invalid & knew that in all probability, Ravana would kill him. Still, he chose to try his best to protect Sita, the Queen. Bhishma was powerful yet acted powerless, where Jatayu was powerless yet acted powerful. *"Real power is not about physical strength but about the deep desire to help."* *2) ALIVE OR DEAD* Bhishma lived on but died every day to his conscience; Whereas Jatayu died once but lived eternally true to his conscience. *"Our only constant companion is our conscience. We better be true to it."* *3) FAME OR INFAMY* Bhishma's name & fame went down in history because of this one act of not stopping the disrobing of Draupadi. But Jatayu's name & fame went high in history because of his act of trying to save Sita. *"Many of us are going to be mere names in history, sooner or later. Will we be equated with the bad or the good is our choice."* *4) CULTURE OR VULTURE* Bhishma was supposed to be a highly cultured human but acted highly insensitively & stooped low in values like a vulture. Whereas, Jatayu was supposed to be a lowly uncultured vulture but acted highly sensitively & soared the skies in values like an evolved human. *"One doesn't become a human by being born as a human. He only becomes a human by being human."* *5) SPOKEN OR UNSPOKEN WORDS* Draupadi begged & pleaded protection from Bhishma because she knew if someone could protect her, it was only him, but still Bhishma didn't protect her. Whereas Sita didn't even ask Jatayu for protection, she just wanted him to inform Rama about her kidnapping by Ravana because she knew Jatayu was not powerful, but still Jatayu tried to protect Sita. *"The language of the heart is more powerful than the language of words."* *6) CLARITY OR CONFUSION* Bhishma was so confused regarding his royal duty that he forgot that he had a higher duty, a moral duty; Whereas, Jatayu was so clear about his moral duty that no other duty was a consideration for him. *"When caught up in dilemmas, best is to follow the higher principles, to follow our heart because it always knows the truth."* *7) GOOD OR BAD EXAMPLE* Bhishma set a very bad precedent for generations to come; Whereas, Jatayu set the most ideal precedent for generations to come. *"If we can't be a great example, at least let us not be a bad one."* *8) RELATIVE OR STRANGER* Another interesting point is that Bhishma was an elderly relative of Draupadi but acted as a total stranger in this episode; Whereas Jatayu was not at all related to Sita, he was a stranger but acted more than a dearest relative. *"True relationships are based on heart connections, not just bodily connections."* *9) THE SAINTLY OR THE WICKED* Both Bhishma & Jatayu had a few moments to decide what to do. Life sometimes puts in situations where in a few moments we need to take crucial decisions. What we decide very much depends on the kind of inner integrity we have cultivated by the association we keep. Bhishma's intelligence was clouded, & it failed the test of life because he associated with the wicked minded, selfish Kauravas; Whereas, Jatayu's intelligence was crystal clear, & it passed the test of life because he associated with the saintly, selfless Lakshman & the All-pure Lord Rama. *"After all, who we are solely depends on whom we associate with."* *10) EMBRACE OR NEGLECT* The Supreme Lord, as Sri Krishna, was not at all happy with this attitude of Bhishma so much so that when He came as a peace messenger to Hastinapur, He didn't even bother to look at Bhishma. Whereas, The Supreme Lord Ramachandra was so happy with the attitude of Jatayu that he embraced him & personally did his final rites, an honour that even Dasharath, His father didn't receive. *"The scriptures explain that the ultimate test of any activity is if the Supreme Lord is pleased with us."* It is very clear, Bhishma displeased God; whereas Jatayu pleased Him. This recount is not meant to criticize Bhishma, he is undoubtedly a great personality, but we do vehemently criticize his inaction. *Moral:* *When we see some injustice or some problem, we have only two options Either we close your eyes to it or do something about it, follow "the Bhishma way" or "the Jatayu" way."* *Whichever way we choose, remember there will also be a result, "the Bhishma result" or "the Jatayu result."* ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Prompt: "Fine Mess" Oliver Hardy often said to Stan Laurel in several Laurel and Hardy films, "This is another fine mess you've gotten us into." What is your definition of a fine mess and what kind of images does the word mess bring into your mind? The above examples point to a fact that when we need to act and don't act, a fine mess is created. When we act and yet fail, we are self aware of our effort and a satisfaction of our effort comes in mind. So word mess comes when we don't act even though we are perfectly capable to do the same.
