I almost completely avoid TV news coverage. I get most of my news from NPR and Doonesbury. I find TV coverage shallow and the images upsetting. In fact, a day without news is generally better than a day with one, considering the nature of the news. But what do you mean by disingeuous? Do you mean Insincere?
