Agreed! I remember Kali the same way. I am pretty sure I came up with the Scots-African thing, because someone in my family knew someone like that. I was also probably influenced by a character in "Local Hero" (one of my favorite movies) who is Scots-African. But my memory is that I explained the character to imaj when he said he wanted to write the chapter where Will goes to LA to study, and he wrote her first appearance. Her "child" tic is definitely his.
