October Novel Prep Challenge

When I was in grade school and had to write a research paper, I would become impatient with the prep. I often wondered why I couldn't just write the thing and be done. I am definitely stretching myself to think outside of my box. Lol "Plot climax"  I guess I am not understanding what is wanted here. I almost feel like this is making the story way more complicated than it needs to be. Whatever happened to just keeping it simple? Just saying. Then again, I could be overthinking it too.
