Charles Merriweather (Merchant Master Gunner)

Background: Cyril was saddled with this incompetant man because Cyril’s father owed his family a favor and no one else would hire him. He is married, but his wife disappeared years ago. He turned to drink and seedy pleasures since his wife left him, feeling unmotivated as a provider and having little other responsibility. When in port, he is always to be found in the town bar.

Cyril despises Charles, but gives him a fair chance⁠—possibly more chances than he should, knowing what his family owes that of the man. But Cyril knows that in an actual battle, he will be a serious liability.

Strengths: Smarmy. Usually able to weasel his way through situations by playing on the weaknesses of others.

Weaknesses: Lazy, with little work ethic. He doesn’t care about pulling his own weight, just doing the minimum to get by while depending on others to take up his slack.
