Welcome and good luck with your writing endeavors. It is true many of us in speculative fiction have had inspiration from games like Final Fantasy or other similar influences. I've never played the games myself but find the music very helpful for writing a variety of scenes.

Self publishing is both difficult and easy in a way. I'm working on learning the system now myself and there is definitely a lot of work one has to do. It sounds like you are determined and that's a great starting point. I am open to emails if you have questions though may be slow at times just depending my offline work schedule but I can answer the best I can or at least sympathize for things I don't know as well.
