This is true, Sonali, and it may be that we caught the habit from them. The champions of not pronouncing letters are the Danes, however. It's basically Swedish and Norwegian but mumbled and slurred until it's incomprehensible even to other Scandinavians. My wife is Danish American and we once learned a bit of Swedish by watching the Wallender series on TV. Then she decided she ought to have a go at Danish because they're so similar in print. She gave up very quickly because she couldn't understand a word they mumbled!
