In the new editor, if you click on Settings (the icon on the right side of the editor bar), under the "General" tab, you have the ability to enable a customized default font and font size. If you prefer not to change the font and/or font size yourself every time, you can always set a new default that works better for you!

That said, your items are your items and you can format them however you prefer. If you're regularly being told by multiple users that your items are hard to read, it might be worth considering making a change... but you're also allowed to respectfully disagree with people's feedback on your work.
