Her father had ordered enough to give her all the expertise necessary to judge and order side dishes, but it also happened to be her most successful project during Souji's cooking lesson. Losing this course gave her a bad case of the frights. Her only hope was that Chie and Rise were right, that the fear would make her cook her best meal in all of the other courses instead of bumble them into failures Souji would be applying to a fish hook.
"First course," she began. "Miso Soup, any kind, judged by Rise-chan."
At the start of the game, both the simplicity and number of variants to Miso Soup led Rise to deduce at least one bowl would be edible. Each girl was bound to be familiar with one version of the practically legendary dish, so not restricting them to a single recipe was bound to help everyone. Unquestionably, her greatest hope was that this dish would convince everyone that she was playing fair, and to be fair with their dishes and judging. It'd be nice to have her honesty rewarded.
Likewise, Nanako wasn't going in with much confidence either. The only recollection she had of cooking any Miso Soup involved a scallion, shiitaki mushrooms, firm tofu, and barley miso, all of which were diced and served in a broth of water.
