At this point, I was more than a little freaked out. Being able to know who I was was one thing, but being able to get such a realistic shot of my figure was still creepy. And even knowing the clothes I was wearing? What the hell?
I tore my eyes away from the computer screen, looking for I-don't-know-what. I didn't know if this was a prank, or a trick, or anything else for matter. Well, I didn't see any security cameras in the room, and my roommate was already gone for classes- he wouldn't be back until late in the afternoon. I was still suspicious, but going this far, it seemed a little silly and pointless to go back.
I looked at this realistic rendering of me on the computer, and decided to test something, just to see what this was about. In all likelihood, this was probably just some sort of character-editing program, using the player to add a certain touch of realism. A Sims character creator.
A really, really odd character creator.
Well, whatever. I looked at the box which surrounded my image's spare hand- the one not using the mouse. I clicked on one of the corners of the box, and dragged it outwards a little, causing it drastically increase its ratio to my character's body. Suddenly...
FOOMPH!
"HOLY shit!" I cried out loud, with none of my neighbors listening or caring. My hand had ballooned to over three times its original size. I was so surprised that I fell backwards out of my chair. I just laid there, staring at it incredulously. It felt no different than usual, maybe a little numb in the extremities, but my hand was definitely not its usual self. It was as easy to control as always, but stood comically oversized on my small wrist. I can't find a good comparison for it. Imagine putting on a foam finger which turns into your hand, or being one of those cartoon characters who gives a massive punch which turns his fist gigantic. That's sort of what my hand was like. It was the same hand, same feeling, but it had grown, like it was put under a magnifying glass.
...Grown. Like my avatar's hand.
I stood up without much effort, flexed my hand experimentally, then went to my avatar on the computer program. It stood there motionlessly, with its comically oversized hand. None of the numbers for weight or height had changed, but a new column next to them saying "realistic weight" showed that I'd gained about fifty or sixty pounds. The original column's numbers said "actual weight". It couldn't be.... could it?
I cautiously clicked on the corner of the box my avatar's hand was in, and slowly dragged it down until the "realistic weight" was equal to the "actual weight".
Sure enough, my gigantic hand slowly shrank down to its original proportions.
"...Holy shit," I repeated quietly. "Just... what... how.... who?"
I only had just tasted the power I now had at my hands.
