You were now more confused than ever. Only girls can work magic? hen it HAD to be science that you were studying. But then again, how can you read a book that only girls can read? You remembered that you had temporarily rewired your brain to female after an argument with a girl a few days ago. She had told you that you would never understand girls.
"Is it possible that some of that rewiring did not revert back to male?" you thought.
You looked at Hayley, tears forming in your eyes. You were happy to see her back but the news she brought you had turned your entire secret world out of its orbit, sending everything you thought you knew spinning out of control.
"John?" asked Hayley.
You looked at her, your tears now flowing. "I... I'm not sure... about anything... anymore." you said, fighting your own tears. "Uncle Jack had me study this... I thought it was a new science... but... after seeing and hearing THIS!?!"
You rose a hand to your head, as you always did when you were frustrated. Hayley began to tear up herself as she thought her mother's warning about telling John was coming to light.
"Please, John." she said, quietly. "Talk to me about this. I might be able to help you."
Now you were sobbing, you could not help it. There were too many questions than answers and even the answers brought forth more complicated questions.
"I... I'm sorry, Hayley!" you said, frustrated. "I need to think.. I just need time to think!!"
A bright flash emitted from nowhere, temporarily blinding Hayley, and you were gone, inside the safety of your secret laboratory. However, in your haste to get away from your sister, you accidentally took the wrong book. Hayley looked down at the book, Chaotic Science and picked it up. She sense that something was very wrong with you but she could not determine what.
