Mel's eyes widened as she saw the flame burning in your hand. She drew in a deep breath as if to scream but instead of doing so she slowly let it out, awed by the sight.
"He's controlling fire!" she thought. "But mom told me that boys can't work magic!" she grinned. "Maybe he's an exception, because we're twins."
The thought had a certain appeal to her but then she thought of something. "But what if using magic will turn him into a girl forever!?!" she thought. "I would like him to be a true twin... but not forever."
Mel shook her head, she had to gather her thoughts and think of what to do. She had just recently discovered her magic powers. But, because she was just starting out, her powers were still unstable, hard to control. Yet, you, a boy, supposedly unable to work any magic at all, seemed to have been in full control. It annoyed her. It annoyed her a lot. Without thinking, she decided you needed to taught that her magic was stronger than yours and threw a water globe in your direction. However, with her powers being unstable, she ended up throwing a globe the size of your head. You somehow sensed her power rising and looked in time to see it coming.
"Woah!" you yelled and you quickly threw a fire ball, the same size, to cancel the attack.
There was a loud boom when the two collided, followed by a hiss and a lot of steam as the water and fire completely canceled each other. Fortunately, the sound was no louder than a door being slammed as Hayley just returned home at that moment. She turned to the door, thinking that she had accidentally slammed it then moved on to her bedroom, unaware of the confontation the living room.
"Who's there!?!" you demanded. "Show yourself!"
"Oh, crap!" thought Mel, watching you cancel her attack. "His powers are stronger than mine and he's not even supposed to have magic power!"
She held back a frustrated sob as she watched you look around, nervous. You had not spotted her yet.
"I don't like this." you said to yourself. "I'd better continue investigating this in private."
With that, you grabbed both your book, and the book you had found, hen vanished with a dull flash. Mel watched you vanish with magic her book and drove her teeth into her hand, frightened.
"Oh, no!" she whispered. "He has my book! Mom is so going to kill me!"
Then, Hayley came back down from her bed room and found Mel. She gave her a warm hug.
"Long time no see, sis!" she said happily. her smile vanished as she saw Mel's look of fright. "Mel? What's wrong? Why are you shaking all over?"
Mel turned to her sister, her face ashen white. "I just saw John using magic!" she whispered. "He was using it very well too!" she wiped away a tear. "It's not fair! I can barely control my powers and he has full control and he's not even supposed to have magic!"
Hayley looked at her, shocked and confused. "What!?!"
"It's true!" said Mel, annoyed. "He vanished from the living room there and he took my magic book!"
