This choice: She sneaks away before you notice • Go Back... Hayley was not sure what to do so she decided to sneak away, before you noticed her, and find mom so to tell her what she saw. Unknown to her, you were not sure of what to make of your discovery. You decided to return both your book and the magic book where you had taken them from and sneak away before anyone noticed you. Unfortunately, as you walked out of the living room, Hayley had second thoughts and turned back to confront you. She and you nearly bumped into each other in the door way. For a moment, you just stared at each other with an awkward feel in the air.
"Hey, Hayley." you said, slowly. "Um... welcome back."
"Thanks John." replied Hayley, just as slowly. "It's good to be home again."
You and Hayley stared at each other again, the silence was maddening to both of you. Hayley looked into your eyes and found them wavering, as if you wanted to say or ask something. As you looked into her eyes, you noticed the same thing, only her eyes were beginning to water, confirming your thoughts.
"She suspects something." you thought. "I know it. How am I going to tell her?"
"He suspects something." thought Hayley. "I just know it. How am I going to tell him?"
"I... I missed you." you said, trying to break the ice. "For a while, I thought you leaving was my fault." your eyes began to water as well. "I'm really glad you're back."
Unknown to you, Hayley had kept in contact with mom, secretly, and she had told her that you had been acting very strange since she had left for her training. Now Hayley knew what her mom was talking about, since you would have normally hugged her by now, happy to see her back home. Instead, you seemed just as distant as she felt, knowing that she could not reveal her magic powers to you.
Uncle Jack had told you never to reveal your chaotic powers to anyone, now you had a better understanding why. You had to train to protect yourself, as well as your family and friends from your powers. You were eager to learn as you had a close relationship with mom and your sisters, as well as your friends, Megan and Harry. You did not want to accidentally harm them. It really hurt you not to tell anyone, especially mom, what you were really doing in the basement but you knew it was the right thing to do. Jack told you, in his recorded lessons, that you would know when the time was right to reveal your powers.
"I so want to show her everything." you thought, frustrated. "I'm also curious to know where she's been all this time, but how do I do it without making her freak out completely!?!"
"I so want to tell him everything." thought Hayley. "I'm also curious to know what he's been up to all this time, acting so strangely, but how do I do it without making him freak out completely!?!"
