You respond, "I'm being payed. My family needs the money."
The clerk types some on the computer "Fine, let me make a note of that. I'm assuming you've already talked with your parents and gotten through your goodbyes."
You hadn't actually said goodbye to your parents but felt it would be better if you didn't have to deal with it. "Of course I have. So where do I sign to finish this up?"
The clerk casually replied, "Your parents have signed already and we do not require the signature of those who are being paid for their time here. If you could please walk into the room to your left just past the scanner, you will be briefed on what is going on here."
You walk through the door and see a small earpiece on a table and a second door on the far wall. You yell back to the room before, "Do I put this in my ear or something?"
"Just put it in and you'll learn about the rules here."
You carefully pick up the small earpiece and put it around your ear and feel a sharp pinch.
Nothing seems to happen for a bit and then you hear a voice come in through the earpiece."What are the rules at Exper Academy?"
You almost retort, "Isn't that for you to tell me?". But instead find yourself reciting the rules back to the device from memory, "All nonpaying students are to listen to the teachers and those students who pay for their time here. Public laws do not apply within the academy. If you die you will be restored based on your physical and mental state based on the last baseline. The rules of Exper Academy may be changed or altered at any time to provide large scale social experiments.......Current non standard rules-
