Ash ran after Kristofferson as the taller grey fox zoomed around the corner in the sewer system they were exploring. "Hey, wait up!" Ash call out. It wasn't fair, he thought to himself. Kristofferson's longer legs gave him a natural advantage.
Kristofferson, deciding to be nice, slowed down a tad. "C'mon," he said, "it's right up ahead."
Ash watched as his slightly younger cousin sped up again, shaking his head. Whatever they were going to see better be worth it.
Finally, Kristofferson skidded to a stop, and Ash caught up with him a moment later. They were standing in a near-deserted part of the sewer, next to a brick wall with a crack in it. "It's right through here," Kristofferson said, slipping through the crack. Ash followed, having no problem making his way through due to his littler body type.
What he saw on the other side was pretty cool, though, he thought to himself. They were in a small enclave of the sewer, what seemed to be a dead end. The room was dark save for what was coming from the middle, where a plant glowed a bright green. "What is it?" Ash asked. It sprouted from a crack in the ground which was surrounded by a greenish looking sludge It looked like a small apple tree, standing about as high as Ash was tall, but the fruit growing from it seemed more banana-like in shape, though smaller.
"I don't know," Kristofferson replied. "Have you ever seen anything like it?"
Ash shook his head. The light was beautifully eerie, and he couldn't help but step towards it.
"Ash, no!" Kristofferson cried out. "We don't know what will-"
A small explosion of light cut Kristofferson off in mid-sentence, as he shielded his eyes. When the light dissipated, it took a few seconds for his vision to come back, and when it did, he saw...
