"...change a pony's age. It can make anypony younger or older. I honestly can't help but wonder what Celestia was like when she was very little, so maybe I could be allowed to try it out on her."
"That does sound interesting. I kind of want to see it for myself," Spike said.
"I'm sure you would, Spike," said Twilight to her young assistant.
A FEW DAYS LATER...
After traveling up to Canterlot and getting permission from the guards, Twilight made her way to Celestia's chambers. When she met up with the princess, they began to discus various matters, like some of Twilight's adventures that she didn't usually mention in her friendship reports, as well as some of what Celestia's royal duties had in store for her. Eventually, they got around to spells and magic that Twilight had been working with.
"So, would you care to show me the new spell you have been working with?" Celestia asked her student.
"Oh, right, that one. Before I do that, though, may I ask you something?"
"Go ahead."
"Have you ever missed being little?"
At that, the princess thought it over. Come to think of it, she had been thinking about her fillyhood a lot lately ever since she reunited with her sister Luna. She remembered playing with her little sister in the days before they both had to take responsibility for controlling the sun and the moon, and she had missed such carefree times.
"Well, I guess, somewhat. Why do you ask, my faithful student?"
"Because this new spell has the ability to alter age. I used some test subjects before I got here and the results were, needless to say, rather successful."

Applejack and Big Macintosh could hardly believe what they saw. What was once their Granny Smith was now a cheerful and energetic young filly with a light caramel brown mane hopping around what was once their little sister Apple Bloom, now an elderly mare with a faded red mane, a bow in her hair, and, much to the former filly's dismay, a blank flank. And no one seemed to know what happened to them. After watching this scene, Applejack and Big Macintosh turned to look at each other, both of them still in shock. "Big Mac?"
"Yeah?"
"I want ya ta hit me right 'n th' face, as hard as ya can. No buckin', though."
Without a word, Big Mac slowly raised his front hoof in preparation for the strike.

"Well, that's good to know. I suppose you could try it on me."
"Are you sure?"
"You used to use me as a test subject for a few of your spells, you remember that, Twilight. Needless to say, they were all minor spells, but I'm sure I can handle something like this, if I can still get back to normal."
"All right, whatever you say."
Twilight and Celestia stood up and faced each other. Twilight charged the magical energy in her horn and concentrated on the spell. This will make her younger, thought Twilight, no need for her to be older.
"Are you ready?" Celestia asked.
"Yes I am," said Twilight, before unleashing her magic upon the princess, regressing to the point where she became a...
