Yuki may have been inside a warm room, but she could still feel the brisk mountain air nipping at her nose. The cold up a mountain was definitely nothing like winter in the city and suburbs. The only reason the feeling was isolated had to be the glow of her cheeks, the excitement coursing through her veins chasing away the chilling sensations from everywhere else. Her total lack of experience wasn't even a consideration yet. All she saw was a long time dream on the verge of being fulfilled.
Yuki's friends were planning to spend the winter break taking a car ride over to some ski resort a few cities over, and asked Yuki to join them. She'd certainly thought about skiing before, but with she always lacked the funds herself, and her parents told her before they wouldn't cover the bill - something she attributed to basic parental protection. Now that she was with friends and the finances were being divided, she even had enough left over for a variety of situations. However, what truly convinced her to tag along was the resort in question.
The Ian Feldt Resort - named for the tallest peak in the mountain range, which is in turn named for the first person to scale it - offered much more than skiing and snowboarding. The range extended for two or three miles, creating countless hiking and snowmobile paths across the glorious mountain scenery, one of which led to a natural hot spring and others to ponds and lakes for ice skating and ice fishing. The lodge also offered full spa treatments in addition to the basic amenities (restaurants, first aid station, game room, etc.), meaning Yuki wouldn't go bored if the snow didn't fall. Just to ensure they covered everything, the girls decided to stay for a full week, and it was quickly paying off: a booking error by the resort staff resulted in upgraded accommodations for no additional charge during the length of their stay. Even though they were sharing, the sheer size of the resort's best granted each girl the illusion of her own cabin.
Yuki had only been here for half an hour, most of which was spent unpacking her brand new wardrobe and familiarizing herself with the luxury cabin, and she was already convinced this trip would be one of the best decisions of her life. The mountain even got a good amount of snow fall last night, and the slopes were begging for a ride. Of course, she didn't have to go right away. The weather forecasts were predicting plenty more snow this week...well, one of them was, at least. Still, there was plenty more to do.
