You looked over your work desk as various beakers, test tubes and bits of machinery hummed and glowed with arcane light. It was your first day as an initiate of the Izzet League and you wanted to make a good first impression, but thoughts and ideas seemed to come to you slowly today. You knew the basics of red and blue mana as did every other member, though combining them in new and unexpected ways often proved challenging for even the guild's more senior members.
You grabbed a vial of bright blue energy that seemed to float and swirl through the glass like an ocean's tide ebbing and flowing. This was blue mana, a powerful catalyst to mind magic and the endless depths of the sea and sky. After looking it over for a moment you then grabbed a vial of crimson red light similar to the first. Unlike blue mana, this energy was more savage and wild, flaring up and glowing intensely through the glass as if it might pop out at any second or melt its container into a hot puddle of lava.
